The members of the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders will be gathering on 12 to 13 April 2010 to debate the premier's speech delivered during the official opening of the house held on the 5 March 2010.
Among the issues that members will deliberate on is the premier's statement on the role the House and Traditional Leaders in general should play in supporting government in launching rural development programmes in their areas.
Central to this debate is also the announcement made by President Zuma during the opening of the National House of Traditional Leaders wherein he mentioned the consideration of recommendations made by Nhlapo Commission on traditional leadership claims and disputes. It also understood that in this debate the Members of the Executive Committee (MECs) and of the house will also reflect on the progress made by the house thus far and also plan for the year ahead.
All members of the media are therefore invited to attend this house sitting so as to get more information and further clarity on these matters. The sitting will take place as follows:
