The Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works (DRPW) joins all South Africans in wishing former President Nelson Mandela a happy 94th birthday.
Our MEC, Ms Thandiswa Marawu and departmental staff members will celebrate Mandela Month by renovating a number of community facilities in the Maletwai, Buffalo City Metropolitan and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipal areas.
The following departmental activities will be taking place throughout Mandela Month:
Event: Renovations at Alheit van der Merwe Primary School

Event: Duncan Village Ward 7 Expanded Public Works Programmme (EPWP) integrated intervention

- official opening of site registration office of Amathuba Job Portal

Event: External painting of Motherwell Community Health Centre

Activities:
- Motherwell Community Health Centre – Erect partitioning in waiting area and enclose two old ambulance parking bays with aluminum shop front type partitioning to serve as a facility where physiotherapists can help people with walking and other physical disabilities. This also includes the provisioning of a new screed, the closing off of the existing floor drain, the provisioning of a new window for cross ventilation and the provisioning of a new floor drain for the washing of ambulances on the outside of the facility. Erection of sign board at the clinic.
- Kwazakhele High School – Clearing of site and removal of trees for the erection of a new fence donated by a private donor.
- Grass cutting at Immanuel Haven (Old Thembelihle and Siyalinga Place of Safety).
