Early intervention by parliamentarians on poor performing Atteridgeville high schools

Just after a month Gauteng province schools started with their 2012 calender year programme, the Atteridgeville community acts on poor performing schools within and around the township.

Parliamentarians whose political consistency is in Atteridgeville have mobilised high school principals, teachers, the South African Council of Educators (SACE), Tshwane education district managers, church leaders, school governing bodies, parents, learners and community based organisations to converge and develop means of ensuring high pass rate for the poor perfoming schools.

The discussions will take place at the Atteridgeville Education Summit and Prize Giving Ceremony at Atteridgeville Community Hall on 18 February 2012.

The summit plans to develop a profile for each of the schools for ease of comprehending the nature of challenges confronting the schools. School profiles will be accompanied by the intervention plans.

The summit will culminate into a prize giving ceremony for 2011 grade 12 learners who achieved excellent pass marks. These matriculates will receive prizes such as laptops, gift vouchers, certificates and medals.
