The drive to improve agricultural extension and advisory service continues

As part of the broader extension recovery plan which was developed nationally to amongst others promote professionalism when executing extension and advisory services, to improve the image of the extension profession, and to build capacity of extension practitioners, the North West Department of Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Rural Development will hold district extension and advisory conferences from 30 November to 3 December 2010.

The conferences to be held in all provincial districts, will serve as a preliminary to the provincial conference planned for February 2011, where the focus will be on providing a platform to share ideas in enhancing extension and advisory services to the broader farming community.

The aim of the district conferences is to address pertinent issues at district level prior to the provincial conference and allow for extension practitioners to consult sufficiently in preparation for the provincial conference.

This is also geared at giving practitioners adequate time to prepare and improve content for the specialist discussion papers they are supposed to present at the provincial conference.

Details of the district conferences are as follows:
Bojanala Platinum District: 30 November to 1 December 2010
Dr Kenneth Kaunda District: 1 to 2 December 2010
Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District: 2 to 3 December 2010
Ngaka Modiri Molema District: 2 to 3 December 2010
