Dlamini to reassure vulnerable children that South Africa cares

Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will host orphaned and vulnerable children between the ages of 12 and 22 whom she interacted with during her visits to different provinces during the year.

Some of these children are heading their own households after being orphaned due to the HIV and AIDS pandemic. These children continue to survive under difficult circumstances and are using wisely the resources that the department gives them, including social grants.

Others are making the best out of their situation against all odds. They are resilient, intelligent and optimistic about the future.

One particular child, Ontlametse Phalatse, who has a rare ageing disease known as progeria and whose plight was highlighted by 3rd Degree, will join the Minister at this Christmas party where the Minister will thank them and reassure them that South Africa cares.

They will converge in Centurion, Gauteng from Thursday, 22 December 2011 and have a dinner that will be addressed by the Minister on Friday, 23 December 2011. There will also be different activities that they will engage in on the first day.
