Dlamini to host Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) social sector conference

Minister of Social Development Ms Bathabile Dlamini will host a conference to look at the extent to which the social sector of government can contribute towards job creation through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).

This is in line with government’s priority to create job opportunities as outlined in President Jacob Zuma during his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Amongst others, the EPWP Social Sector conference will look at how these jobs can be created through Home Community Based Care (HCBC) and Early Childhood Development (ECD).

The focus on this area is informed by the fact that the provision of HCBC and ECD services has been largely rendered by volunteers and non-government organisations, which government seeks to strengthen and capacitate.

The conference will be held as follows:
Date: 13 to 16 March 2012
Venue: Orion Hotel, Rustenburg
Time: 09h00

The conference will be addressed by Ministers for Social Development Ms Bathabile Dlamini, Public Works Mr Thulas Nxesi, North West Premier Ms Thandi Modise, MEC for Social Mosetanagape Mokomele-Mothibi, MEC for Public Works Mahlakeng Mahlakeng and Bojanala District Municipality, Cllr. Louis Diremelo and Rustenburg Executive Mayor Cllr. Mpho Khunou.

Members of the media are invited to cover the event. The conference will be preceded by a gala dinner which will be hosted on 13 March 2012 from 18h00 at the Orion Hotel.

Members of the media are also invited to the dinner.
