Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Mock Trial


The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) in collaboration with UNIFEM South Africa, UNIFEM New York, Centre for Human Rights (University of Pretoria) and Department of Women, Children and People with disabilities are hosting a “Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Mock Trial Session” from 29 November to 1 December 2010. The purpose of this session is to prepare the Minister, Ms Lulu Xingwana on the CEDAW reporting system for the UN CEDAW Committee session which will be taking place in Geneva, Switzerland in January 2011.

The minister would be taken through the Country Report in a constructive dialogue with concluding remarks, to further assist the Minister and her delegation. This is the first for CGE in taking an initiative by hosting “CEDAW Mock Trial Session” with its partners and government departments.

The Event is taking place at Furrow Lane Hotel Pretoria East, N4 Witbank, Offramp Simon Vermoten, turn Left to Furrow Lane next robot and the proceed straight. Furrow Lane Hotel is on the Second Traffic Circle.
