Disadvantaged youth empowered

Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development together with Batataise Youth Development, a non profit organisation geared towards integrating youth into the economy will honour more than 50 graduates at Weskoppies Hospital, Pretoria West on Thursday.

The 51 youth who will be receiving certificates have completed courses in landscape and irrigation, life skills and basic computing.They received their training as part of national youth service initiative of the Gauteng Provincial Government.

In addition to awarding the graduates their certificates, MEC Mekgwe will also unveil a Reflection Garden which was created by the students as a way of giving back to the community that has invested in them to be a part of this initiative.The garden will provide a place within the hospital where the patients and their loved ones would spend quality together.

Since April is volunteer month, the graduates will also volunteer their time on the day to help with the cleaning at Weskoppies Hospital.
