Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will on Friday, 4 June 2010 officially receive the 2010 FIFA World Cup trophy, in his capacity as Acting President. The trophy will be presented to him by the President of FIFA, Mr Joseph S Blatter.

In the afternoon, Deputy President Motlanthe will host an event marking the last Football Friday, before the kick-off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The event coincides with the last meeting of the 2010 Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), which is chaired by Deputy President Motlanthe.
Members of the Cabinet are expected to play football in a five-a-side game, symbolically to kick-off the World Cup and to send a message to South Africans that the government is fully satisfied with the country’s readiness to host the first FIFA World Cup on the African continent.
