Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, will on Friday, 27 August 2010, attend the opening ceremony of the international conference entitled Professor Bernard M Magubane at 80: The Celebration of Life, at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria.
The agenda of the conference and its topical focus will be on the production of knowledge by Africans and on Africa. This will include the contributions of human and social science on the development of the African continent.
This international conference will bring together researchers, policy makers and members of the civil society, in dialogue with each other.
Deputy President Motlanthe's speech will talk more about the life and works of Professor Magubane, a committed intellectual who has given so much to the liberation and building of an African scholarly community.
