Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will on Friday, 26 March 2010 deliver the annual address to the National Council of Provinces as part of the Taking Parliament to the People programme at Sekhukhune Further Education and Training (FET) College (Dr CN Phatudi campus), Praktiseer, Burgersfort, Limpopo province.
The NCOP’s Taking Parliament to the People programme provides a public participation platform that enables interaction between ordinary people and their representatives. During this week long programme of 23 to 26 March 2010, members of the communities will raise concerns on a wide range of issues that includes service delivery challenges.
Members of the NCOP will listen to people’s concerns and will ask the relevant government departments to respond to such concerns. Members of the NCOP also embark on site visits as part of their oversight responsibility. Sites visited include, healthcare centres, agricultural projects, institutions of education and correctional services centres.
Deputy President will deliver the annual address under the theme: “Working Together to Speed up the Delivery of Services to Our People” to an official sitting of the NCOP on the day and the people of Burgersfort will be afforded an opportunity to observe an official sitting of Parliament.
Deputy President will be accompanied by cabinet ministers, the premier of Limpopo and other senior government officials.
