Deputy President to address the readiness of Limpopo province in hosting 2010 FIFA World Cup

There will be ululations, joy and happiness when the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa ascends the stage. Noise of Vuvuzelas will give excitement to the City of Polokwane and the surrounding areas.

The Deputy President, Mr Kgalema Motlanthe is the leader of government's Special Projects Committee including the 2010 FIFA World Cup. His visit to the Province is to assess the readiness of the Province in hosting this prestigious event.

The deputy president will visit different 2010 legacy projects around the city of Polokwane. These include the newly built Peter Mokaba stadium, The African Cultural Village meant to accommodate exhibitors from all corners of the continent and the information centre.

To strengthen communication around the visit, the South African Football Supporters Club (SAFSC) members, the group of Saddam, Mzayoni, Malala and others will blow vuvuzelas going around the city on Friday, 21 May 2010.

On Saturday, the visit will start with a political briefing. Here, the delegation which comprised of the executive mayor of the host city Polokwane, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture and other members of the 2010 Inter-Ministerial Committee lead by the Premier of Limpopo, Mr Cassel Mathale will brief the deputy president on state of the province readiness in hosting the games.

This will be followed by the extended meeting to take place at the stadium. This will be the meeting attended by government officials, politicians and media practitioners. The deputy president will then address the community representatives from all corners of the province at the Polokwane Cricket Club.
