Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will tomorrow, 1 June 2010, address the National Assembly in Cape Town during a debate on the Union of South Africa’s Centenary.
The Union of South Africa was created on 31 May 1910 soon after the end of the South African War between the Boer Republics and the British Empire. The creation of the Union of South Africa represented the legal-constitutional basis for colonialism. The Union united and included whites as citizens whilst it divided and excluded Africans as citizens.

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will on Thursday, 3 June 2010 address the National Assembly on the occasion of the special debate on 2010 FIFA World Cup, Parliament, Cape Town.
The debate will focus on the evaluation of the state of readiness in hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. It would also point to the progress and achievements made thus far, including the legacy projects established throughout the country, as a result of the opportunities that came with the hosting of the soccer spectacular in the African soil.
