The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Ms Thandi Tobias-Pokolo will address the 2010 Africa Investor Investment Climate Summit that will take place at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington DC, in the United States of America, on Friday, 8 October 2010.
The summit is an annual business forum designed to facilitate action, to highlight and address project specific investment climate challenges and shed light on Africa’s investment success stories. It brings together private investors with significant investment projects to debate practical solutions to their challenges with donors, the African Union, The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and African policy makers.
According to Iqbal Sharma Deputy Director-General of the Department of Trade and Industry's (the dti) Trade and Investment South Africa Division (TISA), the Africa Investor (AI) Conference it is a flagship event which is being held in association with the World Bank Group.
“There will be discussions on what businesses need to succeed in an African country and how policy makers and business leaders can play a pivotal role in Africa’s competitiveness as a global investment destination to establish small, high-level investor councils to assist in improving the investment climate for business in their countries, with the objective of achieving sustained economic growth and reduction of poverty,” said Sharma.
