You are cordially invited to join the Deputy Minister of Tourism Ms Tokozile Xasa for the promotion of Township Tourism Tour. The Deputy Minister will be accompanied on the tour by the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Economic Development and Tourism acting MEC Nomusa Dube, members of the Mayoral Committee, the KZN Tourism officials and local tourism industry players.
As part of the Deputy Minister’s domestic tourism programme, she would like to bring attention to some of the emerging township tourism products in order for them to also attract economic gains generated by the mainstream products from big National and International events like the tourism INDABA and the Vodacom Durban July to name a few.
The Deputy Minister will engage with the local political stakeholders and take a tour of Umlazi Township. She will further engage with the members of the media about her plans to promote township tourism.
In the past few years a number of tourism products in the townships have been developed, but these have not seen as much support as the establishments in developed areas. The tours are a way of promoting Domestic Tourism and encourage South Africans to travel their own country and stay in township establishments as well as learn more about the different Cultures and the rich Heritage of Mzansi.
