Deputy Minister Tobias-Pokolo to announce members of the Review Commission

Members of the media are invited to attend a media briefing on the announcement of members of the Review Commission that will look into various issues affecting the creative industry. The briefing will be addressed by Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Ms Thandi Tobias-Pokolo.

Date:Thursday, 18 November 2010
Time:13h00
Venue: Imbizo Centre, 120 Plein Street, Cape Town

Note: There will be a link-up to Room 153 Union Building, Pretoria

Earlier Tobias-Pokolo launched an Anti-Piracy Campaign and hosted an Intellectual Property conference to mobilise the artists, musicians and creative industry in general as well as the public at large about the negative impact of piracy and urge them to adopt an anti-piracy attitude.

The campaign is also intended to educate and create awareness on the socio-economic evils of piracy about the interventions contained in the existing legal framework, the Copyright Act and related matters, which can assist and empower artists.

The launch of the Anti-Piracy campaign followed a sector meeting and consultation with the industry that President Jacob Zuma had in November 2009, as well as a subsequent meeting that Tobias-Pokolo had with artists in April this year.
