Deputy Minister Thulas Nxesi to address a gathering of Eastern Cape Red-Meat producers on Land Reform matters

The Deputy Minister for Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Thulas Nxesi will give the key note address during a gathering of Eastern Cape Red-Meat producers on Land Reform matters to be held at Carnarvon Farm Estate, Chris Hani District, Eastern Cape on 4 March 2011. 

The meeting has been organised by the National Emergent Red Meat Producers’ Organisation (Nerpo). The primary aim of Nerpo is to commercialise the developing agricultural sector and ensure meaningful participation of black individuals within mainstream commercial agribusiness sector, hence ensuring the long term sustainability of the agricultural sector in South Africa. 

NERPO believes that the use of real case studies, particularly those acquired through a Land Reform Programme, in educating emerging farmers about entrepreneurial skills required to run a successful farming enterprise, provide the emerging farmers with a true reflection of a day-to-day challenges and experiences of running a farm.

The prestigious event will also be attended by the MEC for agrarian reform and rural development Zoleka Capa, the Provincial Chairperson of Nerpo, Dr Pieter Prinsloo and Tsumbedzo Mudalahothe, agricultural coordinator of the Grassland Bio-regional Programme, Sanbi. Guest includes the chairperson of the portfolio committee for rural development and land reform, Stone Sizani and the chairperson of the portfolio committee for agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, Lulu Johnson.
