The Department of Trade and Industry together with KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism will host an outreach campaign at Chwezi Stadium in Nkandla on Friday, 25 March 2011 from 09h00. Deputy Minister Ms Elizabeth Thabethe is expected to deliver a keynote address.
The purpose of this second economy intervention is to reach remote and marginalised communities by creating awareness about the dti’s products and services, as well as small business support services offered by its agencies.
The campaign also seeks to strengthen government’s commitment to empowering rural and peri-urban communities to accelerate job creation and sustainable economic development in the country.
Entrepreneurs attending the event will be advised on how to start, grow and sustain their businesses, during interactive information-sharing sessions hosted by Council of Trade and Industry Institutions (COTII) and strategic partners at their exhibition stands.The Deputy Minister will also award cooperatives with certificates for sustainability and job creation.
