Deputy Minister, Rejoice Mabudafhasi, to lead the Water and Environmental Affairs' Nelson Mandela Day Celebration in Ficksburg, Free State

Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, will lead the Nelson Mandela Day celebration at Boitumelo High School in Ficksburg, in the Free State on the 19th July 2012. The Deputy Minister will be joined by the Executive Mayor of Setsoto Municipality Mr Tshediso Jakobo.

Nelson Mandela Day is a national campaign which has been elevated to international level and it has been initiated by Nelson Mandela Foundation to foster the spirit of ubuntu which emphasises the need by all people of the world to selflessly dedicate 67 minutes of their time to implement projects for development and betterment of the lives of ordinary people, especially the needy. Boitumelo High School meets the criteria and has been prioritised as a needy case for intervention.

Water and Environmental Affairs and Setsoto Municipality will mobilise the local community to provide their time and labour for free to paint the school, laying foundation for toilets, cleaning the school yard and plant trees, amongst others.
