Time: 09h00
Venue: Johannesburg Correctional Centre ‘Sun-City Prison’

In attendance will be civil society groupings, inter-denominational faith-based women groupings and female offenders.

The purpose of the function is to address female offenders, who will be released in August (Women’s Month), as they would have completed their sentences, or alternatively would have been granted parole.

The Deputy-Minister; in his address will cover the following aspects:

  • The total number of female offenders due for release in August.
  • The total number of female offenders due for release in August, per Province.
  • The range/types of offences, in the main, generally committed by female offenders.
  • Psycho-educational skills developmental programs they underwent whilst incarcerated.
  • Artistic work some of them produced during their period of incarceration.

Civil society groupings and inter-denominational faith-based women groupings’ interaction with our female offenders, is aimed at smoothening the process of our female offenders re-integration back into the society as they get released, show them that the community loves them albeit having offended against it, and the community is there to give them another chance.

The Deputy-Minister, Adv Ngoako Ramatlhodi, the Chairman of the Portfolio Committee, Mr Vincent Smith and the MEC, Ms Faith Mazibuko, cordially invite you and your media house to the function. Your presence will be greatly appreciated as we endeavour to better the lives of our offenders through making them feel that they are, and belong to the community.

As we are a security establishment, accreditation would have to be obtained for control purposes.
