The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize will on Tuesday, 9 November 2010 speak at the Restorative Justice Plenary at University of South Africa (UNISA), Pretoria. The Deputy Minister will speak from the perspective of correctional services, perpetrator restoration, and the role of the discipline of psychology.
This multi-disciplinary seminar is aimed at continuing professional development and is in commemoration of Restorative Justice Week which is observed internationally from the 14 to 21 November 2010, as well as celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Restorative Justice Centre.
The seminar will reflect on the history and development of Restorative Justice in South Africa and throughout the world; acknowledge current good practices in South Africa with the aim of sharing knowledge; and look toward the future thereby setting a platform for interdisciplinary as well as inter-sectoral collaboration for the further implementation of Restorative Justice in South Africa and internationally.
