Deputy Minister Mkhize to address summit of the Khayelitsha Development Forum

The Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Training, Prof Hlengiwe Mkhize, MP, will address a summit of the Khayelitsha Development Forum on Friday, 26 August 2011 at the False Bay College (Khayelitsha Campus) in Cape Town.

Under the theme: Unlocking the Skills Agenda towards an Empowered Community and Poverty Eradication, the Deputy Minister’s address will, in part, give the attendees information on how the Department of Higher Education and Training can contribute to improving the socio-economic conditions of Khayelitsha, particularly on matters pertaining to skills development. 

The Western Cape MEC for Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Alan Winde, and the Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Ms Patricia De Lille, will also attend the summit.

Effectively established in 1994, the Khayelitsha Development Forum is a voluntary organisation that seeks to address all aspects of socio–economic development in the community of Khayelitsha, including crime, job creation, urban planning and urban poverty.
