The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Marius Fransman, will visit Hungary for political consultations with his counterpart, Mr Janos Hόvári, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, from 14 to 15 May 2012.
The objectives of the visit are to strengthen political, economic and cultural relations, to strengthen cooperation on education and health, to promote the African Agenda and to exchange views on multilateral issues of common interest.
South Africa and Hungary enjoy cordial bilateral relations and a Joint Economic Committee will be held in Budapest in the second half of 2012 to facilitate the strengthening of economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
Trade between the two countries has been increasing over years and the percentage annual average growth rate shows that exports from South Africa to Hungary increased at about 54% per annum compared to imports at around 19% per annum over the last 10 years.
