Deputy Minister Marius Fransman to attend the inaugural meeting Africa-Turkey

Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Marius Fransman, will attend the inaugural meeting of Africa-Turkey scheduled for 16 December 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Deputy Minister Fransman’s attendance comes within the context of promoting the African Agenda and South-South Dialogue.

The forthcoming Ministerial meeting will largely focus on concrete deliverables in terms of the implementation plan for 2010-2014.

The Ministerial meeting will also accentuate closer trade and investment opportunities between Africa and Turkey as well as creating market to African products entering Turkish markets.

The First Africa-Turkey Summit was held from 18 to 21 August 2008 in Istanbul, Turkey, with the adoption of the Istanbul Declaration and the Framework for Cooperation, accompanied by an implementation and follow-up mechanism.

Furthermore, the Turkish government is expected to create scholarship opportunities for African students in variety fields.
