“56 years of women united against poverty, inequality and unemployment”
Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs will announce the winners of the 2012 Women in Water Awards on 10 August 2012, in Makwane village, QwaQwa, Free State Province.
The Women in Water Awards programme serves as a vehicle for the Department of Water Affairs to appreciate and recognise the good work done by women and the vital role they play in the water sector, encourages perseverance in difficult conditions without resources and for communities to learn good practices of water management and change their attitudes for the better.
The Deputy Minister will present the awards to women led/initiated/implemented water projects in the following categories:
- Water Conservation - The project should clearly support the national objectives on water management.
- Adopt a River - The project should promote innovative and sustainable solutions to water management and demonstrate greater women’s participation and involvement.
- Education and Awareness – The project Should demonstrate clear water related awareness and education campaigns in communities.
- Community Development – The project should provide evidence of greater community involvement and development.
