Deputy Minister Fransman to represent South Africa at SADC Extraordinary Council of Ministers

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Marius Fransman, will attend the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Extraordinary Council of Ministers Meeting scheduled to take place in Luanda, Angola, from  22 – 24 November 2011.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers will focus on the report from the Ministerial Troika that took place on 01 August 2011 in Windhoek, Namibia. Discussions will also focus on issues that emanates from the Finance Committee meeting that took place in Luanda in August 2011 as well as the Finance Sub-committee held in Botswana in July 2011.

The Council Meeting will also assess SADC finances. The area of finance falls within South Africa’s ambit since the country currently chairs the Finance Sub-committee,  with the National Treasury as the lead department.

On the margins of the Extraordinary Council of Ministers, as President Jacob Zuma’s special envoy to the mediation efforts in Madagascar, Deputy Minister Fransman  is expected to meet the Troika to deliberate on the progress since the signing of the roadmap.
