Deputy Minister Dr Molefi Sefularo to address the concerns of medical students about the public health sector

The Deputy Minister of Health will deliver a keynote address to officially open the Medical Students Conference, to be held at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Medical School Auditorium on Friday, 25 September 2009.

Dr Sefularo's speech, among other things, will touch on issues of curricula and ongoing curricular renewal; staff shortages and the exodus of health professionals from the public sector to the private sector and abroad.

He will also illustrate the challenge facing South Africa in ensuring that the public health facilities have adequate health professionals, and focus on the danger of brain drain and its impact on the quality of care.
