Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela, will host the inaugural Kgoro Ya Baswa Human Rights Youth Debate at University of Johannesburg (UJ) in Bunting Campus, Johannesburg on Friday, 24 March 2023.
Kgoro Ya Baswa is initiative of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
He will be joined by prominent guests, grade 12 learners from selected 10 schools identified for participation.
Learners will make presentations about the importance of Human Rights month and the history that led to 21 March being Human Rights Day.
The programme is designed to give the young voices space for expression. This will include debates, speeches and artistic expression.
Each school will be represented by 10 learners. The schools are carefully selected to include areas with a rich history around human rights issues. Included in the programme are schools from Sharpville, Alexandra, Thokoza and Kliptown.
