The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) to hold the 3rd Annual Trade and Investment conference in Gauteng

Global decision makers will once again make their way to South Africa for the 3rd Annual International Trade and Investment Conference and Exhibition, to be held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Gauteng, from 28 to 29 October 2009. Locally manufactured products and services will be on display to highlight investment opportunities and showcase South Africa’s export potential.

Themed ‘The Africa Dialogue’, the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) and Provincial Investment Promotion Agencies (PIPAs) identified the event as a vital marketing tool for growing the South African economy, in particular and that of Africa, in general. The third event of this nature will provide an opportunity for South Africa to forge relations and form business linkages with key players in various sectors globally. The Dialogue will also be used as a platform to promote Africa as a premier investment destination and highlight the 2010 FIFA World Cup through infrastructure investment, as a legacy objective. Issues related to the following sectors will be addressed: energy; tourism; infrastructure; financial services; and information and communication technology.

The South African Ministers of Economic Development and Mining, Ebrahim Patel and Suzan Shabangu respectively, as well as the Ghanaian Minister of Trade and Industry, Hannah Tetteh and Namibian Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Paul Smith, will attend the event.

Business delegations from the following countries will be in attendance at the Trade and Investment Conference:

• Brazil
• Spain
• Portugal
• Russia
• Iran
• Pakistan
• India
• Senegal
• Ghana
