The Department of Tourism’s Visitor Information Centre (VIC) national project for the 2010 Soccer World Cup in five host cities will be concluded with the official launch of the fifth and final VIC in Nelspruit by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms Tokozile Xasa, on Monday, 30 November 2009.
The VIC, located in Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) premises, is intended to provide a one-stop information service to tourists on a wide range of aspects including information enquiries, reservations, accommodation, tours, vehicle hire, entertainment, dining, sports, adventure, shopping, travel tips, etc.
The 2010 Visitor Information Centre will be launched on the eve of 2010 Soccer World Cup draw on 4 December in Cape Town and will deal with the influx of tourists for the 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer extravaganza and beyond.
The primary objective of the VIC project is to effectively address the tourism needs of visitors expected to converge in the five host cities in 2010 and beyond. All the VICs also boast a locally developed information and reservation system tailored to cater for the South African market.
