The department will be hosting the provincial choral music competitions in Welkom on 28 and 29 July 2012. The competition will be hosted for the second year to build on the success of last year’s first event, and is considered one of the biggest competitions of its kind in South Africa.
In the 2011 competition, all 5 districts were represented with more than 42 choirs taking part. This year however, 60 choirs from all over the province have already registered.
The department will host the competition in partnership with the Lengau Choral Music Association with massive prize money up for grabs. All participating choirs will receive R1 000 for taking part.
