Department of Social Development to host an Outreach Programme in North West province

The Minister of Social Development, Edna Molewa will host an Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP) in Tshidilamolomo village within the Ratlou District Municipality in North West province. The programme is geared at bringing various government services closer to rural communities as guided by government's Batho Pele principles.

The Provincial War on Poverty Task Team conducted household profiles in all the wards within the municipality, which revealed that many of them live below the poverty line. As a short-term intervention, the Minister will hand out food parcels to address the immediate needs of the identified households.

The South African Social Security Agency, the Department of Home Affairs, the local municipality and other government departments will render services as well as provide information to local communities. The Minister will be joined by the North West Premier, Maureen Modiselle and the provincial MEC for Health and Social Development, Ms Rebecca Kasienyane.
