Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport to launch Transport Month on a school bus

The North West Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport (DPWRT), headed by MEC Mahlakeng Mahlakeng, will be launching its Transport Month activities on Thursday, 7 October 2010 in Mafikeng in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District.

Most recently the DPWRT awarded 125 new scholar transport routes to 95 service providers across the province. These new contracts became effective on 4 October 2010 and the department and the MEC wish to see the effectiveness of this system firsthand.  The MEC, a major proponent of scholar transport will be traveling by school bus from Mareetsane to Mantsa (primary school).  Members of the media are invited to accompany the MEC where he will be discussing this and other Transport Month activities.
