Department to host provincial Aids Summit

Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC Ntombi Mekgwe will host the provincial Aids Summit to finalise the provincial Strategic plan on HIV, Aids and TB for 2012/16 at Turfftontein.

Some of the key issues that will be discussed during the two day summit include rapid reduction of new HIV infection among the youth, eradicate HIV infections in babies, reduction of unnecessary deaths from HIV and TB and effective organisation of the multi-sectoral response to HIV and TB.

The summit will be attended by 400 delegates from sectors of civil society, local Aids Councils, other Gauteng government departments and municipalities.

Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will deliver a keynote address at the opening of the Summit.
