Department to host Prakash Vallabh Research conference

The Gauteng MEC for Health and Social Development, Qedani Mahlangu will deliver a keynote address at the opening of the department’s Prakash Vallabh Specialist Research conference to be held from 1 to 2 September 2009.

The aim of this annual conference is to implement change through primary health care research and to promote specialist research sciences in health care.

The conference intends to build capacity amongst primary health care workers by giving them the opportunity to present research papers that are coming from their operational day to day work. This year the focus will be mainly on maternal health, HIV and AIDS and general working conditions of health workers.

About 300 people including senior management, middle managers and health care workers from clinics, hospitals, regions and districts are expected to attend this two-day conference.
