Department to hold intergenerational dialogues, Lusikisiki

The Department of Social Development and Special Programmes will hold Intergenerational dialogues on 21 June 2012 at KwaCele Village, Lusikisiki at 10h00 and on 22 June 2012 hold a health and wellness day in the same village at 08h00.

KwaCele Village made headlines all over the world in the recent years because of their, then practice of Ukuthwala, and various government awareness campaigns conducted in that area have improved their way of living.

The intergenerational dialogues will assist young and older persons to have a common understanding on issues affecting both generations. This Intergenerational Programme seeks also to encourage generations to engage in issues of culture, indigenous knowledge and the revival of the age-old values of Ubuntu.

These events at KwaCele fall within June, the Youth Month. Young people of the generation of 1976, united in the fight for the liberation of South Africa, plainly expressed their preparedness to sacrifice their lives to the liberation of South Africa.

This month must be used as a month wherein the struggle for access to control of social and economic resources is continued.

Millions of rands have been set aside for Youth Development in the province.
