The Department of Environmental Affairs will host a seminar to provide feedback on COP17 and the upcoming Rio +20 Sustainable Development Summit in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday, 12 June 2012.
As part of the Department’s final engagement towards the Rio +20 Summit and the second Phase of the national Climate Change Policy process and in order to solicit the views of stakeholders on these two important processes, the Department has decided to host provincial seminars. The seminars serve as a platform to provide feedback on the outcome of COP17 and for engagement on future processes.
The United Nations will be hosting the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) referred to as Rio +20 in Brazil, from 22 to 24 June 2012, marking the 20 year follow-up to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development, under the theme “Green Economy for Sustainable Development - The Future We want”.
