The Department of Energy staff members, their principals and senior managers will heed the call by the Nelson Mandela Foundation of commemorating Mandela Day even beyond his birthday on 18 July, by doing community services at various areas around Marabastad in Pretoria on Monday, 26 July 2010.
The day will be characterised by a number of activities including the donation of solar water heating geysers to a clinic, a homeless shelter, and a crèche, painting of the building, cleaning and donation of toys and blankets.
The donation of geysers is part of the department's Energy Efficiency campaign that aims to encourage people to use natural or alternative energy resources like the sun.
