The International Energy Agency (IEA) will be visiting South Africa from 4 to 6 July 2011 following a series of discussions with the department on how the IEA can work together with the country on key energy related issues.
The Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters, cordially invite members of the media on the first day of the conference (4 July) where the IEA will launch the “Saving Electricity in a Hurry” publication at 10h00. The publication is a brief case study which highlights lessons from recent electricity shortfalls in Chile, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa and the United State.
The launch will be followed by a press conference to be addressed by the Minister and the IEA Executive Director Mr Nobuo Tanaka to be held as follows:
