Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) to pronounce a new approach to enhance local government capacity for improved municipal infrastructure planning, development and maintenance

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Richard Baloyi will host a municipal infrastructure consultative conference to lead government, private sector, State-Owned-Enterprises and all other industry players towards a new approach to supporting municipalities on planning, developing, repairing and maintaining ailing municipal infrastructure in order to improve delivery of municipal services.

Lack of technical skills and generally poor planning for the development and maintenance of infrastructure by municipalities hinder government’s efforts to speed-up services to people. These are the challenges that key stakeholders, led by Minister Baloyi, will engage in at the conference. Media is invited to cover the proceeding of the conference and interact with leading experts in the field of infrastructure.

The event will take place as follows:

Date: 24 -25 November 2011
Time: 9h00 – 16h00 (Day 1)
8h00 – 14h00 (Day 2)
Venue: Birchwood Conference Centre, Boksburg
