The Department of Communications to host the first ever South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF)

The Department of Communications (DoC) will be hosting a two day South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF). South Africa, through the DoC has adopted the Geneva Action Plan and the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society which was endorsed by the Heads of States.

The objectives are to create an inclusive Information Society, creating a multi stakeholder information sharing platform, formulating the common South African position with regard to the global Internet Governance. Also to discuss issues relating to critical Internet resources and to facilitate the exchange of information and best practice, and in the regard make full use of the expertise of the academic, scientific and technical communities.

The department will be chairing the ZAIGF, membership to the ZAIGF will be open to academia, business, civil society and government.
