A Declaration on mental health is due to be signed today at the end of the two-day summit on Mental Health which started yesterday. The summit, attended by non-governmental organisation’s, international experts on mental health, academics, researchers and health MECs was opened by health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi who expressed concerns around inadequate resources in the mental health sector.
Following the two-day deliberations which focused on a range of mental health issues including prevention of mental disorders, suicide prevention, HIV and AIDS and mental health, culture and mental illnesses a Declaration is due to be signed by all parties present at the Summit committing themselves to a set of objectives in the delivery of mental health services in the country.
