The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Commission) in partnership with the Women Ecumenical Conference (WEC) will be hosting an Interfaith Women's Prayer Day.
The CRL Commission is a Chapter 9 Institution with a responsibility to promote the rights of cultural, religious and linguistic communities.
The CRL Commission's objectives include, among others, promoting tolerance and acceptance between and among different religious and cultural groups. This multiĀ faith prayer day is part of the CRL Commission's agenda to foster this tolerance and understanding of different religious beliefs.
Internationally, 2 March 2012 marks Women's World Day of Prayer. It is day whereby women, across the world, come together and pray. This year's international theme is, "Let Justice Prevail". The CRL Rights Commission will be taking through the Campaign on "365 Days of No Violence against Women and Children". This Prayer Day aims to look at how women promote justice, through prayer, taking in to account women and children who are and have been abused.
This Prayer Day will ensure that issues of violence against women and children are not only raised during the 16 Days of No Violence against Women and Children campaign but that the fight is carried through, mainstreamed and sustained throughout the year.
The prayers will include women from different religious faiths and beliefs, the day will acknowledge and provide space for women to pray in their various ways in accordance to their faiths.
