Correctional Services Deputy Minister, Ms Hlengiwe Mkhize, and Premier Maureen Modiselle of North West province to meet young offenders at Losperfontein Correctional Centre in North West

Having launched Corrections Week in Modimolle, Correctional Services Deputy Minister, Ms Hlengiwe Mkhize, with Premier Maureen Modiselle of the North West province, will meet young offenders at Losperfontein Correctional Centre as part of Corrections Week, on Tuesday, 22 September. Events of the day will start at 09h00 in the morning.

The purpose of the visit is to support efforts made by all role-players to prepare young offenders for life outside correctional facilities. The visit will highlight the important role society, especially families of offenders, must play in shaping the behaviour of young people who are in conflict with the law.

It is expected that Deputy Minister Mkhize will highlight the importance of partnerships in the fight against crime and the need to give a second chance to rehabilitated offenders.

"It is important for all of us to do more to address those factors underlying criminal behaviour and re-offending. Doing so protects all of us from crime and brings us closer to the goal of maintaining a just, safe and peaceful society," Deputy Minister Mkhize said.

"All of us have a role to play, including the private sector," the Deputy Minister concluded.

All members of the media are invited to attend.
