SACE hosts two-day Northern Cape Teachers’ Practitioner Research Colloquium, 8 to 9 Oct

The South African Council for Educators (SACE) will host a two-day Teachers’ Practitioner Research Colloquium in Kimberley, Northern Cape, from 08 to 09 October 2026.

This teacher appreciation and recognition initiative will be held under the UNESCO internationally declared theme: “Valuing teachers’ voices: towards a new social contract for education.”

The colloquium is expected to attract approximately 200 delegates, of whom 80% will comprise teachers, student teachers and Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioners. The remaining 20% will include officials and stakeholders from provincial education departments, SACE staff and representatives from the Department of Basic Education, particularly those responsible for Teacher Support and Appreciation programmes.

The Northern Cape MEC for Education, Mr Abraham Vosloo, is expected to deliver an official address during Day 1 of the colloquium on 08 October 2026.

The overarching objective of the colloquium is to acknowledge and celebrate the wealth of knowledge, expertise, and contributions that teachers make to schools and society. Through evidence-based practitioner presentations, educators will share everyday classroom challenges and engage in collaborative problem-solving aimed at strengthening professional practice. In addition, the colloquium will serve as a platform to gather insights from ECD practitioners at grassroots level, enabling SACE to inform the development of evidence-based policies and strategic interventions that respond directly to sector realities.
