DPWI launches Oceans Economy and Built Environment Career Expo
Public Works and Infrastructure Minister, Sihle Zikalala, will on Friday, 21 July 2023, host an oceans economy and built environment career expo at the Coastal KZN TVET College. The career expo will target 500 TVET College built environment students, 500 unemployed youth and 1000 grade 10-12 learners.
The purpose of the career expo is to share careers within the oceans economy and built environment, to assist learners to make informed career decisions that are critical to the country’s development. The skills list include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Hydrology Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Real Estate, Town Planning, Facilities Management and Marine Engineering.
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure will also launch an Ocean Economy Skills Development Programme that is implemented in partnership with the Coastal KZN TVET College. Various exhibitors such as SETAs, built environment professional bodies, the National Youth Development Agency, institutions of higher education, maritime institutions, commercial banks and other private sector industries will be at the expo showcasing careers in their different sectors.
