Public Service and Administration hosts Presidential Remuneration Review Commission briefing session, 11 Mar

The Presidential Remuneration Review Commission - A call to all organised stakeholders in the education sector

The Presidential Remuneration Review Commission (PRRC) has, by means of notices published in the printed media during the week of 22 February 2015 called on organised stakeholders in the education sector to attend a briefing session which will mark the formal commencement of the Commission's inquiry into the educators' remuneration and conditions of service practices, the sustainability of the wage bill and service delivery in the sector. Headed by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, the PRRC, was appointed by President Jacob Zuma to inquire into remuneration and conditions of service practices, the sustainability of the wage bill and service delivery in the Public Service and Public Entities as listed in Schedules 3A and 3C of the Public Finance Management Act.

The Commission will start its inquiry into the education sector through an information gathering phase in which the public and stakeholders in the education sector will be required to make written submissions to the Commission for consideration.

In this regard, a briefing session in which the process to be followed by the Commission will be outlined, is to be held in the Johannesburg/Pretoria area on Wednesday, 11 March 2015. Registered participants will be notified of the location of the venue for the briefing session.

Said Justice Ngcobo: "The success of the Commission depends largely on the cooperation that the Commission will get from the stakeholders in providing the Commission with information that will enable it to make fair and sound findings and recommendations. The stakeholders have a significant role to play in the work of the Commission.

We therefore wish to invite stakeholders in the education sector to partner with us on this journey so as to ensure a representative and participatory process that will ultimately serve the best interest of our country."

"Furthermore, the decision to commence with the education sector is informed by the Terms of Reference which require the Commission to prioritise the education sector as a result of the huge importance and impact of education in our country.

Organised Stakeholders who wish to attend the PRRC briefing session are required to register their attendance by not later than 5 March 2015 by contacting Ms Lwando Xaso on: remuneration.review.commission@govmail.gov.za or Tel: 012 470 1590.

This is essential to assist the Commission to determine the size of the venue required. To ensure that there is space for all stakeholders, each stakeholder is limited to two delegates.
