Parliament hosts dialogue on implementation of Child Justice Act, 27 May

The Select Committee on Security and Justice will be hosting a one-day workshop on the implementation of the Child Justice Act.

Committee Chairperson Mr Dumisani Ximbi said that, among other things, the objectives of the workshop are to share a common understanding of the Child Justice Act, to understand the challenges related to the implementation of the Act by all the responsible government departments and to understand the implementation challenges related to Child Justice Centres.

The Committee further seeks to equip Members of Parliament with the skills to oversee the implementation of the Act, to prepare for visits to such centres and to develop an understanding of parliamentary responsibilities in oversight.

Mr Ximbi said various Chairpersons from Portfolio Committees, Select Committees, Ministries and Departments as well as external stakeholder organisations relevant to the sector have been invited to attend.
