Parliament concludes 37th SADC Parliamentary Forum Plenary, 10 Jul

The Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) that is currently sitting in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, for its 37th Plenary Session, will conclude its business tomorrow.

Today’s Plenary dealt with a number of Standing Committee Reports. Among the Reports were:

  • Report of the Standing Committee on Human and Social Development and Special Programmes;
  • Report of the Standing Committee on Gender Equality, Women Advancement and Youth Development; and
  • Report of the Standing Committee on Trade, Industry, Finance and Integration

Tomorrow the SADC PF Plenary Assembly is expected to debate and adopt five Notices of Motion as follows:

  • Notice of Motion on the significance of the Revised Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (2015 – 2020) and the SADC Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap as vehicles for regional integration, development and accelerated sustainable economic growth;
  • Notice of Motion on the Importance of the Blue Economy to economic development of Island States and regional integration;
  • Notice of Motion on SADC Member States’ readiness to deal with Food Security, Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change challenges;
  • Notice of Motion on the need for SADC Member States to prevent and eliminate Early and Forced Child Marriages; and
  • Notice of Motion on Criminalisation of HIV Transmission, Exposure and Non-Disclosure in SADC Member States.

The Forum will end with a deferred Debate on the Executive Committee Report concerning the administrative and financial management of SADC PF.
