North West Legislature hosts Older Persons Conference and Parliament in Matlosana, 5 Oct

North West Legislature in Partnership with Social Development Department and Office on the Rights of Older Persons to host Older Persons Conference and Parliament 2018 in Matlosana    

On 05 October 2018, the North West Provincial Legislature in partnership with the Department of Social Development and Office on the Rights of Older Persons will be hosting the Older Persons Sectoral Parliament under the theme: “Renewing the Legacy of Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and Mama Albertina Ntsikelelo Sisulu: Celebrating Older Human Rights Champions” at Matlosana Municipal Ball-Room Hall in Klerksdorp at 10h00.

On 04 October 2018, the Provincial Older Persons’ Annual General Meeting will be held at Matlosana Local Municipal Chamber.

Discussions  will focus on, amongst others, older persons with regards to Both the Sectoral Parliament and the conference will highlight the plight of older persons and establish legitimate platform for empowerment , promotion and maintenance of their status, rights well-being safety and security and further provide channels for discussions and implementation of resolutions emanating from the sector Parliament.

Presentations will also focus on land redistribution and expropriation; administration of social grants and participation in local government. 

Amongst the delegates expected to attend is the Social Development department MEC Hoffman Galeng; Members of the Provincial Legislature, representatives from municipal forums; house of traditional leaders; Chapter 9 institutions; inter-faith organisations; Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal Directorate from Office of the Premier; South African Social Securities Association and different departments.
